Technique. Pad work. Conditioning.

Three different parts of training—and how they can give your session a clear purpose.

General educational guidance · FEBA-specific details are identified separately.

Technique gives the movement a purpose

Technique practice is about learning how to perform a movement, not merely repeating it as quickly as possible. A coach can give a specific point to focus on; your job is to understand the cue and practise it with attention.

If you are new, ask what one thing you should concentrate on for that drill. A clear task is easier to work with than trying to correct everything at once.

Pad work connects the pieces

Pad work lets a practitioner apply movements against pads held by a partner or coach. It involves communication, positioning and the rhythm of the task. Both people need to understand what is being practised.

Ask for a demonstration if you are unsure about your role. The goal is to practise the agreed drill, not surprise the other person or turn every round into a test of strength.

Conditioning brings the physical effort

Conditioning is the exercise component of training. Its content, intensity and place within a class can vary, so ask FEBA about the particular session you want to attend. The official FEBA app description includes conditioning alongside technique and pad work.

A useful routine is one you can fit into your life. Discuss your starting point with the team rather than choosing solely from dramatic training clips.

Make your questions specific

Before the class, ask about the level, session length, equipment and whether partner work is involved. Afterwards, ask which skill to keep practising and which session suits your next visit.

This guide explains general training concepts. It does not prescribe a class sequence, promise a particular exercise list or replace a coach’s instruction.
